Finish Details

Finish Details — Twelve Steps. Zero Shortcuts.

Our finish process involves twelve discrete steps, each one performed by a specialist and inspected before the piece advances. Most cabinet manufacturers finish in three to five steps. Some use automated spray lines that apply a single coat and move on. We have strong feelings about this approach, and those feelings are negative. Every surface that leaves our finishing department has been sanded, sealed, sanded again, primed, sanded again (yes, again), color-coated, inspected, top-coated, oven-cured, inspected again, hand-buffed, and subjected to a final quality audit by someone whose entire job is finding imperfections. They are usually bored.

🎨 Painted Finishes

50+ standard colors plus unlimited custom matching via our spectrophotometry lab. Our catalyzed conversion varnish is the hardest, most chemically resistant paint finish available in residential cabinetry — rated for 1,000+ MEK double-rubs. It won't chip, crack, or yellow. We've tested samples at 10 years and they're indistinguishable from day one. We don't have data on competing products because they don't tend to last 10 years.

🪵 Stain Finishes

Hand-wiped stains using a proprietary three-coat system: penetrating stain, toner, and UV-resistant top coat. Each layer builds depth and richness while allowing the natural grain to do what natural grain does best — look extraordinary. Our stain process was developed over six years of R&D. We're told other manufacturers' stain process was developed over an afternoon.

🔲 Melamine & Thermofoil

European-sourced melamine from the same mills that supply Italian luxury furniture houses. Textures include woodgrain, concrete, linen, and stone reproductions so convincing that our showroom visitors routinely try to determine whether they're real. (They're not. But they're that good.) Our thermal wrapping process produces zero visible seams. Other manufacturers' thermofoil products… do not share this quality.

✨ Specialty & Artisan Finishes

Cerused oak. Wire-brushed textures. Hand-rubbed glazes. Weathered patinas. High-gloss lacquer polished to a mirror finish. Each specialty finish is executed by artisans who have trained specifically in that technique. It's not a production line — it's a craft studio that happens to exist inside a 250,000 sq. ft. factory.
